Oral Pathology is defined as the study and diagnosis of diseases of the mouth.

At Apex Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Center, Dr. Charlotte Marvil combines her training and background in dentistry, medicine and surgery with experience diagnosing and treating diseases of the oral and maxillofacial regions.

The lining inside a healthy mouth is typically smooth and pink.  Changes in the color or texture of the lining in your mouth may indicate an underlying oral disease, including serious conditions such as oral cancer.  Additionally, any unexplained changes in the skin and soft tissue around the lips, cheeks, palate, gums, teeth, tongue, face or neck should be examined to rule out any serious oral pathology. Oral Pathology can present in many ways, including cysts or tumors of the jaw bone area or soft tissue lesions of the oral mucosa, gums, lips, cheeks and tongue.

Routine Examinations and Cancer Screening
